The sun is almost gone and there’s this beautiful reflection on the black water of the canal, one of the few sources of light. That’s the only light from down below, otherwise the dark shade disappear going up towards the sky.

The image is from a few years ago, the writing on the handmade “flag” hanging from the window says, more or less, “No More Chinese Mafia in Venice!”…

MatericLook: FoggyPastures0 by Francesco Perratone

A lovely morning, a bit cold, maybe, but light and colors are great and the fog is moving through the valley… a feeling of calmness permeates everything.

We’re nearing the sunset, the shadows are becoming longer and darker. The mountains, jagged against the perfectly blue sky, are painted by spectacular shades…

MatericLook: RailroadByTheSun by Francesco Perratone

A beautiful afternoon in BC, not too far from Alberta and the parks…. The light is incredible, a little haze makes the mountains on the horizon otherworldly….

Also in BC, during a short walk, I’ve found this old railroad tunnel adapted for pedestrian passage, part of a longer trail along a river. The highlights shapes give a rhythm towards the light, but we’re still here, in unstable darkness.

Another photo form Canada, I was lucky to capture this beautiful sunset. The red sun highlighted the town hill, while the mountains in the back were almost completely black, giving great contrast. The cloudy sky also had a nice contrast with great depth, a beautiful company to the underlying landscape.
