MatericLook: Warm¿ - Armenia Photography and art

An image from Yerevan, Armenia. It depicts a beautiful sculpture from Yue Minjun, a contemporary artist from China. The work is named “Untitled”, as some of his others… he works mainly with oil colors and his recognizable characters can be found in sculptures, design items, watercolors, prints…
Yue Minjun works are strong, the smiling faces are masks, hiding the contemporary man’s true self. They’re a critique towards today society. Apart from Armenia, you can find his works in galleries or public places in Canada, US, Europe and of course China and Korea.
The shot was taken rotating a bit the frame, to give more strength to the facial expression on the statue. In post-production a bit more contrast, to highlight the traits and wrinkles of the exaggerated expression. And a bit more of the reflected colors, intensifying the chrome-like look. Cold blue from the sky in the upper left corner and warm yellow/brown  from the floor stones.

MatericLook: IcyPrison wallpaper by Francesco Perratone, Austria Photography and art

Hello!

Here you can see a wallpaper to contrast August’s warmth and high temperatures…. A January shot from the Austrian countryside…

The work portrays a field and the surrounding woods, observed through a metal fence, covered in icy crystals.
Or a cold freedom, seen through colder metal bars… Your choice!

The image has plenty of space to put icons and stuff on your devices desktops, the bars also work as separators, for organizing everything!

My $3 patrons and up can access a link to download the work in different resolutions and aspect ratios.  Here’s my Patreon campaign, if you’re interested in supporting me, or if you want to receive some works each month.

3D extrapolated from an oil painting

(Limited edition of 30)

This is an experiment, a video created using an oil painting as a starting idea.

The direction followed points towards the creation a creature, a huge creature similar to a living planet, the movement is a key concept to give life to the whole thing and, most important, to evolve and keep part of the materic look of the oil painting we used.

This is W5, the oil painting:

Some of the choices made to get to this look are experiments that can open or close new ways to explore, especially in the creation and fluidity of the movement and transformation, probably more “Things” will come!

The animation exists in another version, with red/orange high ground, more similar to the original painting and with a strong color and temperature contrast:

Some of the frames are interesting enough to justify a further elaboration of the data, model and techniques to produce high resolution images for high quality printing in big size (>300 DPI).
